hello there,

i'm new to navision and visited only two trainings til now,
so i have some very basic questions.

1. somewhere in a manual is mentioned that you shouldn't use the demo
database of navision for setting up a new customer/mandator cause it's
limited.
(developer license is imported)
so i' ve created a new database and imported the backup (data + app.
objects) of the original cronus ag demo db, as mentioned in the manual.

only the tables were imported, no forms, reports, etc..
at the import dialogue i can't choose the application objects cause they are
greyed out.

just for my understanding,
if you have to setup navision for a new customer,

do you create a new database for him in which the cronus ag is not included

or do you just use the demo database, create a new mandator in it and import
his license file?

how do you handle this? is there kind of a start up guide how to set up a
new database/mandator?

2. is the developer license somehow limited, or could you work with it just
like with a regular license?

excuse my english, which needs practice too!
thanks in advance!

I usually use the demo database and create a new company. The license file
is not stored in the database itself, but when you import a license, the file
is copied to the program directory. You should not use a developer license
file when setting up a new company. It is possible that you would setup some
area of navision that is not included in the customers license. Data setup
should be done with the customer license file.

As to why you where unable to restore the application objects when restoring
the backup, this only happens when the database already has application
objects in it. You have to create a new database and then restore the backup.
